Fur Harvester Education Courses

The Trappers Association of Nova Scotia delivers the Fur Harvester Education Courses on behalf of the NS Department of Natural Resources. You must go online at huntns.ca to sign up.

Typically there is one spring course held in April in the Truro area (locations my change) and four fall courses held in September at Tusket, Baddeck and two in the Truro area (locations may change.)


Tentative Dates for courses are:

  • Baddeck – Second Saturday of September
  • Truro area (locations may change):
    • April (date to be set closer to time of course)
    • Third Saturday of September (approximate date, date to be set closer to time of course)
    • Third Sunday of September (approximate date, date to be set closer to time of course)
  • Tusket – Fourth Saturday of September (approximate date, date to be set closer to time of course)

The Trappers Association of Nova Scotia since 1968 has promoted humane trapping and sustainable furbearer management through our education of students and the public.

Our Education

We will continue to promote trapping and fur harvesting as a means of responsible renewable resource management on a national and international level.
